1st October 2009

We are now in the month of October.

It has been fast and short... it's unbelievable that it has been yet a year since Voice.

And along the way, I had turned 52

Aah, upside down. I made a mistake. Ikuta Toma has turned 25.
A quarter of a century old fella.

Right now, I feel that I have lost somethings but also gained some others in return in my life.

Plus recently, passing by bookshops, I see myself on the bookcovers of the novella, 『No Longer Human』. For those of you who have yet to read it, and even for those of you who have already read it, please do grab a copy of the Ikuta Toma's version of 『No Longer Human』.

A few days back, 『Seaside Motel』 finished its shoot.
Right now, I am on the shoot for 『Yo nimo Kimyou na monogatari 』.

I am thankful that this year, in the 24-year lifespan of Ikuta Toma, is the busiest year ever.
Ganbarimasu.
Everyone too, please take care of your health.

I must say, I am very into "Buzzer Beat". It is slowly nearing the final episode? For those of you who had checked it out, that's great!
It's a little too late to ride the craze now.

Daily Wardrobe Rolecall!

I wear this dress far too often DX And I think I'm tired of this hairstyle now XP eh.

But LAWL at the new winter items. The vests for the jewel section rock but pretty mcuh everything else sucks. I mean, are they even trying for the ribbon shop anymore? but at least it's ribbons for christmas right? But it does make me wish I hadn't sold last year's coat, since I have to track it back down again XP

New Utada Hikaru single?

Long time Utada collaborator Goetz B. has updated his site discography with an entry for a new Utada single titled “Show Me Love.” The sound mixer has worked exclusively on Utada’s Japanese works, so it seems likely that “Show Me Love” will continue that pattern and be released as a Japanese language single under EMI Japan sometime in the near future.

☆　Not hard at work after all!　☆

Recently, the 6 of us met up for a meeting on the Asia Tour.

Recently, all 6 of us, are very perceptive about the repeated usage of the word, 『部分』(part).

You may well be asking why,
well, it's because we have a staff who is in the habit of saying that word, 『部分』.

He would use the word in every part of the conversation. Repeatedly.
The words, "this part" were used as a conjunction many times.

For example, it goes something like this.

「For that, for all the various "parts", even for the set & etc's "parts", it would be good if we do not worry about them, but rather, let us first think about the "parts" that we would like to do.
The mood & etc "parts" we want to send across to the V fans, we should just do the part with the best form available for that "part",... 」
The parts are used too often that sometimes I don't really understand what he is trying to say...

Frequently, during the greetings moments, as we speak on the go, i.e. thinking about what we're about to say at the next moment, there are many people who will interject their speech with words of hesitation like eh~, eh~.
In this case, "part" is being used in the very same manner.

From since when we made out debut, ♪-san has always been involved in our concerts, and happens to be the most authoritative person amongst the staff.
In black from head to toe, cheerful ♪-san, who is from Kansai, resembles a cool Darth Vader.

For ♪-san, the usage of "part" is not something recent, but since the last 4, 5 years, the usage has, for some reason, become preposterous.

Perhaps it can be compared to intruding on the President's authority, but up to now, no one had touched on the "part"!?, but this time, I decided to try (laughs).

Ans so, this is about the first time all the staff and us got together as one, for our first meeting.

That was the first time we'd met ♪-san again since Kamicon, and on that day, he was in his elemant, using 『部分』 continuously.

All of a sudden, I was guessing to myself, how often would this person be using the words 『部分』 from the start till the end of the conversation.

And so, on that day, I decided to keep track of the count.

At the beginning, I had thought of keeping count by using my own fingers, but by the first pause in his conversation, I had counted up to 17...

At that moment, I felt that with just both my hands I would not be able to keep up, so I started to keep count by using the character 正 (this is typical Japanese/Chinese way of tallying in sets of fives), writing it down on the set list (the paper on which the proposed list of songs are written).

The word "part" was pouring out mercilessly.

The character 正 just multiplied rapidly.

In the end, on that day, excluding those times when I had to leave the room for the toilet, up till the end of the meeting, I have recorded down a total of 54 times that ♪-san used that word.

After the meeting ended, that was when just the 6 of us would have started our discussion to confirm on the things that we were interested in up to that point. I was undecided about whether I should tell the rest about the results of my diligent counting, since no one had asked me to do such a thing. At that moment, Inohara-kun who was seated next to me, and had seen a little of what I had been doing, goes "ehh!?" and says 「To wrap up, Ken-kun has something to announce to everyone」. Oops...
I was left with no way out. At that particular moment, I had no other option but to be a man about it. What kind of man, I am not very sure (laughs).

「In today's meeting, ♪-san has used the word "part" a total of 54 times」, I had announced, and the staff all burst out laughing at that.

Then ♪-san purposely used the word "part" a few more times consecutively, which of course broke his record up to then.

In trying to stop ♪-san from continuously using the word "part, someone said, 「From today onwards, we will start a "part" fund. The next time the word "part" is used, that person will have to deposit 500 yen into that fund」, and in reply, ♪-san cheerfully said, 「Ok, then, that fund goes towards our yakiniku outing!」 (laughs)

That "part", it is not far from making it to the Guiness Book of records (laughs).

And so, now, among us 6 and also among the staff-san, we are now trying our best to add the word "part" in our conversations.

To be honest, in terms of conversation, it didn't really flow, and in terms of the Japanese language, the usage was totally wrong, but regardless of that we all had loads of fun doing such nonsensical stuff (laughs).

As I had just mentioned just now, "part" is now the in word amongst us, especially Inohara-kun and I, we were inserting the word "part" in every part continuously (laughs).
During the meeting, rather than voicing our opinions, we just wanted to say the word "part".

While everyone had their brains working in full gear earnestly, and with serious faces, going through trial and errors, both Inohara-kun and I, our brains were working in full gear on how to insert the owrd "part" into the conversation on hand.

To sum it up, the two of us were just fooling around, totally not participating in the meeting properly, but in order not to give you all the impression that the meeting wasn't carried out properly, there were others who were very much focused on the meeting, giving their opinions, summarising when needed, cutting out the required, which made it a really well balanced meeting indeed.

Anyway, towards the final stages of the meeting, things really went downhill...

It's good to decide the title of the tour, and then the two of us happily chipped in titles like, 「The part of V6 Asia Tour etc. in SEOUL」「V6 Asia tour 云々in SEOUL の部分」, totally ridiculous titles which just got more and more preposterous.
However, after all is said and done, none of them were used at all...
Everyone just gave us THE look, said nothing, and the meeting ended...

There's more...
Bubun..., bubun..., bunbun..., bunbunbun the bee is flying ♪ (部分…, ぶぶん…、ぶんぶん…、ブンブンブン蜂が飛ぶ♪) (German song Bienchen Summ Herum) we started singing, and ended with parts of the theme song from Lupin the Third♪, and on that day, it became an obsession for us, so much so that we even gave up counting on the number of times the word was used...

Having said that, it wasn't just the two of us that used the word "part" in our every sentence.

With Okada, it was really amusing to see how he weaved the word naturally into his sentence, even though it wasn't necessary.

For example, this was how it went.

「For that part of the movie, let's leave that to the movie team's department (also uses the kanji 部分) to find something that will make us look cool, so yoroshiku onegaishimasu. 」

With that finely chiseled face like that of a sculpture, saying such words so casually, it was really funny.

By now, we have already bypass the point where the word "part" is the in word, so much so that without us noticing it, the word has slowly eroded into our daily conversation.

If it goes on like this, if that word doesn't make the award for the most hip word of the year, it will be truly shocking.

Yamapi's drama's theme song is of course titled 「Ichibu to Zenbu」, but I was thinking to myself, what a waste that it wasn't titled 「Ichibubun to Zenbu」.

It's confirmed, this is what's called the 『部分気になる症候群』 (the "part" syndrome).

Today's topic about "part" 部分 may be limited to only Episode I...

After this, for all we know, it may spawn a series like STAR WARS...
